Eat The Rainbow

The more colour you add to your plate, the more micronutrients, vitamins, and minerals you’ll eat. Micronutrients are made up of vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients. Phytonutrients are chemicals produced by plants, and are scientifically proven to provide many health benefits.

Phytonutrients aren't essential in keeping you alive like vitamins and minerals are, but they are very important to your overall health, because when you eat or drink phytonutrients, they help to fuel your body to perform at its very best, and help your body to fight off illness and disease.

Here are just a few of the many reasons eating the rainbow, and getting more phytonutrients can help improve your health.

The green, red, orange, yellow, blue, purple, and white fruits and vegetables that are grown right out of the ground, and nourished by water and sunlight, are the healthiest, and best foods for you on the planet. Below is just a small list of those foods in their colour groups.

* Please feel free to use this list as a reference, but by no means is this considered a complete list of all the foods found in their colour groups. There are many more fruits and vegetables out there that are not found on this list; just waiting for you to try them!

Can you think of any other foods missing from our list? Please comment to continue the conversation below.

The bottom line is, your mom was right. You really should eat more fruits and vegetables.

Not only are they delicious, but they are good for your overall health too.

So what are you waiting for?

Start eating the rainbow today!
